In the ideal world, the people should have proper representation in the US Congress. Unfortunately, this is not the case because our government is corrupt to the bone. This is not because the elected representatives are evil but because they were financially backed by special interests.
If you ever ran for a public office, you know that it is expensive to get the required attention from the voters. It costs money to be on TV, radio, or billboards. Special interests know that. Therefore, they are eager to extend a helping hand. But they don’t do it for nothing. They expect something in return – political favors.
Consequently, this is no surprise that our government is run by corporations. As a nation, we transitioned from Democracy to Corpocracy. Nothing will change until the representatives get financial backing from sources other than special interests. This is why, we created CongrUS which is an organization that supports independent candidates.
